Diving Instructor Courses

Scuba diving is where you swim underwater for extended periods by means of breathing apparatus, usually compressed air. When you think about how many activities we can partake in on land and in the air, it is not surprising that there are also plenty of different things you can do once you are able to dive. Exploring coral reefs is perhaps the one everyone thinks of when you say scuba diving, but divers are also needed for engineering projects, by the police, in the oil industry, in boat maintenance, and much much more.

There are many opportunities for qualified divers to earn money, and good money at that! So where do you start looking for qualifications and courses? Scuba Divers have a huge range of internationally recognized courses available to them. For the UK, the best known is The Professional Association of Diving Instructors who offer courses for all levels of divers. Perhaps the most popular course is the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course.

Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)

"I did my PADI OWSI course at Diving Leisure - I had already done the assistant instructor course with them earlier in the year. The 4 day course was very informative and enjoyable. The first bit was all about learning the basics and mostly theory. There were some theory exams too. The pool sessions included the twenty practical diving skills and the swimming, and they showed us some useful tips. As part of the qualification you also have to do some coursework, which wasn't my thing, but it wasn't difficult and I can see why it is included in the assessment. Putting it all into practice in the open water section of the course was the best part and made you realise how much you had picked up from the first few days. Being OWSI qualified let me get my dream job at a PADI diving school near Sharm el Sheikh. Scuba diving is good. But teaching other people scuba diving is better."
