Mepal is a small busy centre based around a 20 acre lake in the Cambridgeshire Fens offering a wide range of water and land activities for families, school and youth groups and corporate clients.
The Centre has modern purpose built premises that include dormitories, showers, toilets, dining room, lecture room, lounge, sports hall and an indoor climbing centre. It is a very unusual recreation, leisure and training resource, unique in East Anglia for its blend of facilities, programme and clients. Although in the middle of the Cambridgeshire Fens, Mepal is less than 40 minutes drive away from Peterborough, Cambridge, Newmarket, Wisbech and Huntingdon.
Among our facilities we have indoor climbing walls, High Ropes course, paintball and adventure play areas. In addition to the usual range of school and 'out of school groups' we offer an extensive adult coaching programme in canoesport, sailing, windsurfing, climbing and archery and suitably qualified staff have plenty of opportunities to coach rather than simply run taster sessions every day. In any week you might find yourself working with special needs groups, primary school children, a family birthday party, adults on a team build, a hen or stag party, running any of the Centre's activities for which you are approved.
We look to our Instructors to be or to become 'multiskilled' and provide appropriate training to this end. In most activity areas there are frequent opportunities to coach adults both in Introductions to the activity and in qualification courses
The Centre has a small all year round team with the Manager, Chief Instructor, Administrator and 8 Instructors. We usually employ another 10 qualified Instructors from March to October, 3 or 4 qualified students from June to September and also take on 2 or 3 trainee Instructors with limited experience between March and October. We are a dedicated, hard-working team and pride ourselves on delivering a high quality service that is fun, exciting and safe for all our guests. So if you are enthusiastic, ambitious and have a passion for the outdoors, we'd love to hear from you.
