Raleigh Expedition isn’t like other volunteer programmes. We run life-changing Expeditions to some of the most remote places on the planet. Volunteers live in a homestay with a local family, work on sustainable projects in remote communities or national parks with an international team, and trek through unique and stunning landscapes.

Volunteers are challenged to achieve things they didn’t know they were capable of and return home with the power to create lasting change.

Alongside another group leader, you will lead multiple teams of 12-14 young people on intensive 19-day treks across Nepal, where your expertise will be essential to their success.

You may also have the chance to work on our community project sites, supporting efforts to increase access to clean water and knowledge of safe hygiene, whilst facilitating the personal development of your volunteer group.

ideal candidate Who are we looking for?

Adventure leader who is Mountain leader trained or assessed.
If not, extensive training experience is required.

our offer What we can offer you

As a result of our relationships with country authorities, Raleigh teams often have access to areas that are usually closed to tourists. Experience this breath-taking scenery first hand as our groups trek through areas and national parks inaccessible to the average traveller.

As mentioned you may also have the chance to work on our community project sites in very rural villages in Nepal, helping to improve assess to water, sanitation and hygiene in communities affected by the 2015 earthquake.

Once you are in-country Raleigh will cover the cost of your food, accommodation, training and preparation, specialist equipment, and insurance (excluding personal belongings cover). This is covered by the fundraising target all our volunteers must contribute to join Expedition - however our costs for Mountain Leader trained or assessed applicants are the most discounted of all our roles, from £1,135 to £1,350.
