Woodrow really delivers what we say we deliver- facilitating the development of soft and hard skills of the young people that visit us, encouraging self-reflective practice, and prompting ideas about how these skills can be applied long after they've left Woodrow.
We also put our staff at the heart at what we do- encouraging a real culture of well-being, learning and fun at every step.
A Typical Day in the Job
nstructor days are varied, working with residential school groups, youth clubs, day visits, holiday camps, NCS, disability groups and more. We offer various multi-centre activities such as: Low Ropes, High Ropes, Archery, Off-site Expeditions and Orienteering, focusing on soft skill development and improving the confidence, resilience, and leadership skills of the young people we work with. We typically facilitate 4x 1.5hr sessions a day, with occasional evening entertainments (such as campfire). Our instructors also take on Duty Instructor responsibilities, staying in our residential house overnight as the main customer point of contact, supported by a Duty Manager. When not on session, we expect our Instructors to help with the day-to-day running of the centre, undertaking site work and maintenance tasks, equipment stores, and occasional shifts in our commercially-operating on-site Sports Centre.
We encourage our instructors to strike a healthy work-life balance, and believe that our comfortable accommodation with gardens, as well as the use of our on-site facilities, is a welcome step towards this.
