a typical day
The role of the Adventurous Activities Coordinator is a varied and exciting one, and requires great flexibility and adaptability throughout the day. Each day begins with a short Briefing with the rest of the staff team, where the Adventurous Activities Coordinator will ensure that the Activity Staff are organised for the activities that day; trouble shooting any problems that may arise.
The Adventurous Activity Coordinator is a good role model, modelling the delivery of outstanding activities and personal development programmes to groups from a diverse range of backgrounds. He or she will ensure that the rest of the Activity Staff are well trained and competent, and run all sessions in a safe manner using areas and equipment that are well maintained and safe. He or she will actively strive to develop a staff team that is second to none, always delivering excellence.
Back in the office, the Adventurous Activities Coordinator will be responsible for organising inspections, sourcing new equipment, and exploring ways the Centre can develop the site and it’s range of activities. He or she will take the lead in delivering the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and will look at creative and innovative ways to grow and develop the programme. No two days are the same, but each day will be a rewarding one for the right candidate for this role.
Who are we looking for?
what makes you the ideal candidate
Suitable candidates should have:
• Adventurous Activity experience and a technical understanding of safety management systems and national governing body guidelines that ensure safe delivery of adventurous activities
• A minimum of 4 NGB coaching qualifications preferably including Mountain Leader with RCI or Paddle Sports coach at Level 2.
• Experience or interest in integrating adventurous activities in to wider personal development or outdoor learning programmes
• Experience of dealing with a range of challenging behaviours and complex needs.
• Possess a strategic vision for developing, delivering and growing adventurous activity provision at the Centre.

The post is based on a 35 hour week but will involve flexible working, including some weekend and evenings
Due to the nature of the work, the post will be subject to a DBS check.
