typical day A Typical Day in the Job

This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic leadership team of Girlguiding’s national activity centres during a new phase of strategic development. You will work collaboratively with other national Centre Managers, the Strategic Operations Manager, and our Programme & Events Manager to develop, implement and review a long-term strategy for business growth and stability, in line with our strategic objectives.

As Centre Manager, you will be responsible for the recruitment, training, and development of a diverse staff team, leading them to deliver an exceptional guest experience. In addition, you will oversee adherence to health & safety management systems, and the upkeep of estate grounds, facilities, and maintenance. Furthermore, you will manage the delivery of daily operations at the centre, including outdoor activity and camping provision, event delivery, self-catering hire, and an onsite shop, all with associated budgets.

ideal candidate Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a dedicated professional from the outdoor activity sector, with excellent communication skills that support positive engagement with our stakeholders. You will possess an enthusiasm for outdoor adventure experiences and for motivating and influencing staff. You will also have experience of business, facility, and financial management. Additionally, it will be essential for you to demonstrate an ability to engage with a variety of guest and volunteer, and to show your commitment to our organisational ethos and values.

Due to the nature of the role, evening, overnight and weekend work will be required.

This role is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. This means that due to the nature of some of the duties, we are entitled to ask about any spent or unspent convictions. This role has unsupervised access to children and young people. Under the Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records), the role is eligible for a disclosure check which is enhanced with a barred list.
