Buzz Active is a non-profit organisation, run by East Sussex County Council. Our vision is to provide access to outdoor activities to all, in stunning locations in East Sussex. We run nationally accredited courses, taught by qualified instructors, for individuals, groups and families, for children from 6 onwards, for schools, and groups with special needs.

The job description

Senior Instructor: a typical day

Buzz operate over 15 different activities over three sites and staff will be deployed across all sites dependant on qualifications and experiences. Daily duties will include the set up and delivery of courses and sessions for the applicable qualifications held, assisting and mentoring instructional and coaching team, basic maintenance and upkeep of the equipment, assistance with hire concession. Liaising with Site leads, managers and administration staff. Candidates are expected to travel between sites at times. We deliver activities to the whole community, schools, SEN settings, youth groups, public courses for both junior and adults, operate a rental concession and deliver corporate activities.

Contracted options available for the periods below;

Full Season contract: 30 March - 1 November 2026
Peak Season contract: 1 June - 6 Sept 2026
*Full season contracts have the option of annualised pay over 12 months from April-April.

We are looking for candidates who:

Hold a relevant senior qualification such as RYA Senior Instructor, PaddleUK Paddlesport Coach or Leader, Mountain Training CWI, or ERCA High Ropes Instructor.
Can work confidently with groups from a range of ages and abilities.
Have strong communication and organisational skills.
