The job description
Activities Manager Isle of Wight: a typical day
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of all outdoor and adventure activities
- Lead, mentor, and support the instructor team, fostering a positive and professional working environment
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety procedures, risk assessments, and safeguarding policies
- Manage staffing rotas
- Maintain equipment and activity areas to the highest standard
- Communicate with school groups, group leaders, and visiting staff
- Support the Head of Centre in developing and improving the activity programme
Who are we looking for?
what makes you the ideal candidate
- Highly organised, proactive, and confident in leading a team
- Passionate about outdoor education and working with young people
- Skilled in managing activity delivery in a busy, fast-paced environment
- A strong communicator with excellent leadership skills
- Committed to safety, professionalism, and creating memorable experiences
- Previous experience managing or supervising outdoor activity staff
- Possess a Sea Kayak Leader qualification or already working towards qualification - essential
- NGB qualifications (e.g, paddle sports, archery, climbing) are highly desirable
- First Aid certificate (or willingness to train)
- Experience in residential outdoor centres advantageous
