Head of Centre: a typical day
About Us:
Manor Adventure are an industry leading residential outdoor activity provider. We have been able to become an Employer of Choice through our focus on the quality of the educational sessions we offer, as well as our commitment to the training and development of our staff. Our Outdoor Residential Centre in Craven Arms, Shropshire. Culmington Manor offers exceptional facilities within a 100 acre estate in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the South Shropshire countryside. Our superb estate is located close to the Welsh borders and nine miles from the historical town of Ludlow. The grounds consist of woodlands, fields, and gardens inhabited by an abundance of wildlife.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overall Centre Management: Take charge of the comprehensive management of our Culmington Manor Centre in Shropshire.
Oversee all operational aspects and ensure that our guests have a safe and memorable experience.
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead, motivate and manage a dedicated team of staff, including activity leaders, housekeeping and catering, to provide exceptional service to our guests.
- Health and Safety: Maintain and enforce strict adherence to Health and Safety standards, making certain that our Centre operates in accordance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Guest Relations: Foster positive relations with our guests, educational institutions, youth groups, and other stakeholders to ensure high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
- Financial Oversight: Administer Centre budget and allocate resources effectively.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with department heads to identify areas for improvement and innovation, working together to enhance our programs and services.
Who are we looking for?

The Head of Centre is responsible for the efficient running of day-to-day operations and development at the centre. This includes managing and motivating centre staff, ensuring government regulations are adhered to, ensuring the highest possible Safety & Customer Service standards at all times.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the outdoor education, adventure or hospitality industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and financial management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with department heads to achieve operational excellence.
- A range for National Governing Body qualifications (NGB).
- Experience of the accreditation process , LOtC, Adventuremark etc.
